About Wouter Baustein
I’m Wouter Baustein – music producer, artist and music & mindset coach. Born in Germany, now based in Belgium, I run Baustein.Studio: a boutique music and media production studio where I help artists turn ideas, demos and rough sketches into professional, release-ready tracks.
Alongside the studio I founded Guitar Training Studio (now Baustein.Academy), my coaching platform for music, motivation and mindset. Together they form one ecosystem: in the studio we build your sound, in the academy we build the musician and the mindset behind it.
Who I Am
Born and raised behind a piano, started DJ’ing when I was twelve. That mix of classical training, club energy, rock and electronic music still shapes how I hear groove, sound and arrangement today.
I’ve been making music for more than 45 years and coaching musicians and producing records for over 25 years. I studied at Jazz Studio in Antwerp and at Musicians Institute in Hollywood, focusing on guitar, songwriting and music business. In Los Angeles I had the chance to learn from former KISS producer Kenny Kerner, whose direct, no-nonsense approach strongly influenced how I work in the studio and how I coach artists.
Today I combine those worlds: musician, producer, songwriter and coach – all in one person who understands both the creative chaos in your head and the technical demands of a modern release.
What I do at Baustein.Studio
Baustein.Studio is where ideas become records. I work with artists, bands and creators on:
- Music production from first idea to final master
- Songwriting and arrangement support
- Recording, editing, mixing and mastering
- Sound design and additional production for content, film and media
- Artist and release coaching so the track fits your long-term vision
Every project starts with clarity: what do you want this music to do for you, and for your audience? From there we design the sound, structure and release strategy so your track isn’t just “well produced”, but actually works in the real world – on Spotify, YouTube, radio, stage or screen.
Beyond the studio
My first book, Rhythm Mastery – Read, Write, Play in 40 Days, is the start of a series in which I distil more than 30 years of experience into practical tools for musicians who want results instead of random tips. I also developed the Baustein Method, a structured coaching approach that helps guitarists and artists move from hobby level to professional standards with clear steps and accountability.
I am co-owner of Groove Hunter Entertainment, a platform that supports artists in their creative development and release strategy. Under my artist name Manic Youth I release my own music and collaborate with artists worldwide, which keeps me closely connected to the realities of being a modern artist in the streaming era.
My mission
Whether I’m working in the control room, coaching an artist or writing a book, the mission is the same:
to help serious musicians gain clarity, focus and momentum – and to create music that actually moves people.
I don’t believe in empty motivation or quick hacks. I believe in a clear vision, honest feedback, smart use of modern tools and consistent action. At Baustein.Studio that means:
